The movie Shaapit (2010) starts with a dramatic scene. The main character, Aman (played by Aditya Narayan), looks like he is dying. He tells the story of how he and his girlfriend, Kaya, are destined to die together.
He thinks back to the happy times when they first met, fell in love, and the moment he finally asked her to marry him.
The Turning Point
Right after Aman proposes, the couple gets into a scary car accident. Luckily, they survive with only small scratches. However, when Kaya’s parents find out that Aman asked her to marry him, they don’t celebrate. Instead, they become very sad and worried.
Kaya’s mother begs her father to tell the couple the “truth.” This truth is a family curse that has lasted for hundreds of years, which stops the women in their family from ever getting married.
